New Leisure Experience

The new leisure experience that I partook in was weight training.

Deciding...

It took me a while to decide upon an activity to take part in, but eventual I found one that would be most useful to me. I have not been physically active in a very long time. I used to play football, hockey, and baseball, and when I gave all of them up I started to play ball hockey, which I have also stopped playing. I do nothing and I felt it at my cousin's wedding.

I has a great time at my cousin's wedding. Filled with family, friends, fun... and a lot of dancing... so much that the next couple of days that I felt it throughout my body. How badly can someone be out of shape to be sore after dancing at a party?!?

That's when I decided to start weight training.

History...

I have always said that I would never weight train; that it was superficial and something that I did not have any interest in. This was all true. In fact I did not truly NEED to do this type of exercise because of all the other activities I was involved in. However, lately I have been stressing the need to be physically active to others and the wedding was a cry for help.

Enabling Factors...

I don't like the idea of paying to go to a gym when I have a bench and weights in order to get in a solid workout. Instead of doing it alone I decided to workout with my buddy who does so already as well. It's cheap ($0), not far, physical, friendly, enjoyable, and even leads to other leisure opportunities: having beer and watching the hockey game, playing video games, going out to eat. The options are unlimited which makes it even more exciting to get involved in.

Actual Experience...

I enjoyed the friendship and physical aspects of this new experience more than anything. I get to spend time with a close friend, talk about different issues that matter or don't matter, and get the physical exercise I was looking for.

Future...

I have continued to weight train for the past 3 weeks now. I plan on continuing to do so as my busy schedule permits. I would change my workout schedule to fit into my schedule if anything were to change, but as of right now everything is working out and I am feeling a lot healthier. After the next wedding I should be OK.
